Read this book in two sittings about 20hrs as I could not put it down Very well written structured researched and detailed As a former police officer I was most impressed with the arguments and evidence put forward There are far too many coincidences for the author to be wrong about his findings Especially after his final report was declared valid by the Asst DA for LA This occurred before the author found out that the person he was naming was indeed secretly the prime suspect who had been surveilled by a team of 18 investigators bugging his home and hearing the suspect making very incriminating remarks about himself his crimes and police corruption protecting him this clinched it for me Very much evidence has come to light since the writing of this book which confirms the authors claims Much of this evidence has been added at the rear of the book This book forced the DA's office to open their closed files for scrutiny and thus allowing the author access to the home bugging transcripts The LAPD were forced to open their files which revealed that conveniently all of the physical evidence which could implicate anyone was now missingdestroyed One of the photos the author found which he believes was the Black Dahlia has now been found to be someone else However the second photograph still stands However both photographs still led the author to the secret prime suspect in the case who was linked strongly to this victim and various others in similar crimes of the time Too much of a coincidence to not be true

if you can overcome the numerous spelling errors transposition of numerals and letters and missing punctuation this presents new evidence on the murder of betty short I found some of the evidence compelling but circumstantial at best I did get a bit lost under all the detail especially about the murder's relation to art however towards the end the timeline is reviewed and started to make sense to me extra info added at the end really helped bring it together I think the author has made a compelling case for his father as the murderer but at what personal cost I can only imagine due to either a cover up or incompetence the evidence has been lost by lapd so this is probably as close as it gets to confirming the actual killer good read

The Black Dahlia murder is one of those cases that catches the public imagination and serves as an enduring mystery Steve Hodel thinks he has solved this mystery and presents the evidence in this book To be honest I'm not convinced much of the evidence seems circumstantial and reuires some fairly large leaps of faith to connect all the dotsThat Hodel senior was both a suspect and a fairly unpleasant man is undeniable but I'm not convinced by the evidence presented in this book that the Black Dahlia case is finally solved
